Communications
The projects below are a series of professional communication-related work I did at Royal Roads University. The Rhino’s Cafe Ethics Pitch is a group project where we created a plan for a local cafe to improve its ethical image within the community and the industry. The Nike Stakeholder Mapping is another project where I analyzed Nike and identified its internal and external stakeholders across the globe. The Pacific FC Communication Plan is a group project to gain recognition as a significant organization in the Greater Victoria sports, entertainment, and community scene.
While these projects are fictitious, they helped me excel in a team environment. Besides learning the professional format of these projects, one of the most important skills I learned is how to feedforward instead of giving feedback. I believe the skills and traits I developed through out this program will prepare me for the communication industry.
Journalism
I was responsible for planning, writing, and taking the photos for the articles below for BCIT Magazine. It was a very educational experience that prepared me to become a proficient writer and journalist.
Firstly, it hones my skills in gathering and researching information. As a journalist, I must identify reliable sources, fact-check information, and gather evidence to support my claims.
Secondly, writing for the school newspaper enhances my writing and storytelling abilities. Journalism demands clear and concise writing that engages readers and effectively conveys information. Through regular practice, I learn to write compelling headlines, craft informative leads, and coherently structure my articles.
These skills are transferable and essential for a successful career as a journalist, enabling me to communicate stories in a compelling and impactful manner.
